Emergency Communications Roundtable / San Diego North County and Mountain Backcountry

Kurt Barnhart, N6MD, is a member of CERT, RACES, ARES, FireSafe, Skywarn, and one of the organizers of the North County Emergency Communications Net on 147.030 (ECRA / Palomar Mountain), at 7pm on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month. In this session, he will moderate a roundtable discussion with Southern California Amateur Radio Leaders, Fire Officials, and Law Enforcement, focused on preparedness, logistics, and operations in San Diego North County and the rugged Mountain-Desert Backcountry.

Learn tips, tricks and techniques using baluns, ferrites, and ham ingenuity to cure RFI in your shack, lower your receiver noise to hear more DX, and troubleshoot and cure your neighbor's RFI problems.

Bio: Bob Brehm, AK6R is Chief Engineer of Palomar Engineers (www.Palomar-Engineers.com), and has been a ham for over 50 years with experience in contesting, RTTY, Amplitude Modulation, vintage radio restoration, boat anchors, linear amps and unique antennas. He is active on 3.870 AM and 3.895 Vintage SSB as well as other nets offering his expertise to new and old hams alike.

In this program you will find out how to find, collect and restore the Vintage Radios of Yesteryear to perfect operating condition and looking like new. Speaker WA6MHZ is the curator of the Crest Radio Museum, the largest collection of Ham Radios in the western USA. Also included will be a tour of the Museum. Come enjoy this lively show and learn the expert tricks and tips on just how to make that radio you found out at the ARRL SOUTHWESTEREN DIVISION CONVENTION Flea Market work great and look great.

Pat Bunsold WA6MHZ is curator of the CREST RADIO MUSEUM and President of the Amateur Radio Club of El Cajon Pat is a past ARRL San Diego Section Manager and Past SANDARC Chairman.  He also chaired the ARRL Convention years ago.  Working as an RF Tech, he has formed the EL CAJON Radio Hospital which doubles as the West Wing of the Crest Radio Museum.

Joe is from SDSU, BS, Engineering Geology, Retired Geologist with the City of San Diego, Environmental Services Department 2009.  Ham licensed since 1984, original call sign KB6LNU. Have been involved with Transmitter Hunting since 1995.  Member Sandra, ECRA, ARCEC, LARC, EARS & ARRL Life Member. Enjoys hiking and camping in the Desert and Mountains.
